Film om Maria i år?

Mel Gibsons Jesusfilm The Passion of the Christ var en oväntad filmsuccé. Nu kommer en "uppföljare", rapporterar Variety som skriver:

[...] the script covers the two-year period of Mary and Joseph's life, culminating in their leaving Nazareth and journeying 100 miles to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus. Story's aimed at fleshing out key characters such as King Herod; John the Baptist's parents, Zachariah and Elizabeth; the shepherds who were witness to Jesus' birth; and the arrival of the three kings from the Orient.

Variety: 'Nativity' born at New Line

Variety berättar vidare att Nativity, som filmen kommer att heta, ska regisseras av Catherine Hardwicke som tidigare gjort Thirteen. Hollywood reporter skriver att man velat ha Hardwicke hennes förmåga att berätta historien om Marias liv "from a strong female perspective". Manus är skrivet av Mike Rich och filmbolaget New Line Cinema hoppas att filmen ska bli klar i år. Kan man tänka sig att de siktar på premiär lagom till jul?
